Location
Situated on the extreme southern end of the pristine Mozambican coastline, Nkhosho Eco Resort (local name of the Crowned Hornbill, one of our bird species) is an exclusive luxury tented camp on a private 3.5ha coastal estate, halfway between Ponta do Ouro and Malongane, offering privacy and tranquillity to the discerning nature lover and adventurer.
Tucked away in thick forest, five luxury en suite tents erected on wooden decks have direct access to a secluded beach only two minutes away.

Travel
There are no regular flights or maritime transport to Ponta do Ouro, bus services are also very limited, so chances are that you will arrive at Ponta do Ouro on your own or hired vehicle.
If you arrive at the Maputo International you can hire a vehicle at the airport or use a pre-arranged transfer service.
The four southmost border posts (Ressano Garcia, Namaacha, Goba or Ponta do Ouro) are connected by tar road to Ponta do Ouro.
Third Party vehicle insurance is compulsory in Mozambique.
Directions from Namaacha, Goba and Ponta do Ouro border posts are quite simple. Directions from Ressano Garcia are a little more elaborate as you will be going through the city of Matola and the outskirts of Maputo city.
Once you have a booking with us, we will assist you with directions. To facilitate this process, we encourage the guests to have access to the internet while on the road, either by roaming (expensive) or by buying a Moz SIM card (from Vodacom or Movitel) at the first opportunity. Once we know your Moz SIM card number we will be able to load data remotely and start communicating by voice and/or whatsapp.
If possible, the guests can share their location while travelling, enabling us to give step by step directions.
To travel the 3.5km from Ponta do Ouro to our resort one needs an all-wheel (4x4) vehicle. It is possible to arrange transfers from Ponta do Ouro, Kosi Bay border post or Maputo for guests without 4x4.

All five tents are identical, have dedicated parking close by and direct pedestrian access to the beach which is 100m away.
Each tent is covered by an outer double layer structure, protecting it from the rain and direct sunlight, providing good thermal insulation.
The tents have an area of 30 m2, including the front deck and the ensuite WC, a front door, multiple side windows, and good-sized bedroom.
The bedroom has two 3/4 beds with side tables, linen chest, a ceiling fan, mosquito net, cupboard, single couch, coffee tray with electrical kettle, various electrical sockets and lights.
The ensuite WC has hot water.
The front deck has a table, two chairs and a washing line.

Communal Facilities
The communal area with 80m2 is 50m away from the tents, has a WC with basin and toilet, a kitchenette with fridge/freezer, stove, kitchen sink, cupboard with crockery and cutlery, a small barbecue grill and utensils, two large tables and benches for 16 people.
The resort is covered by two cell phone operators, due to the topology and the thick vegetation the signal strength varies from place to place, but the overall wifi coverage is reasonably good. With prior arrangement video conferencing facilities can be provided.

Out & About
This coastal region is a crisscross of sandy tracks through a vast undeveloped and unpopulated wilderness.
The main attraction is the pristine white sand beaches and the clear, warm waters of the Mozambique channel.
In season you can watch the humpback whale’s migration and the tracks of loggerhead and leatherback (lesser extent) sea turtles laying their eggs on the beach.
You can also watch dolphins swimming throughout the year.
A 10min drive to Ponta do Ouro or Malongane will offer numerous activities and entertainment, from scuba diving at nearby reefs, wild dolphin safaris, snorkelling and surfing lessons, deep sea fishing charters, beach massages, wellness adventures and travels, traditional music and dancing shows, communal curious and craft stalls, grocery shops, petrol station, BCI bank branch with ATM, and dozens of pubs and restaurants offering the best of the Mozambican and South African cuisine with a wonderful ambience.
